For You To Notice.

I’m starting to fashion an idea in my head
Where I would impress you,
Where every single word I said
Would come out insightful or brave, or smooth, or charming
And you’d want to call me..
And I
Would be there every time
You need me;
I’d be there every time..

But for now,
I’ll look
So longingly..
Waiting

For you to want me
For you to need me
For you to notice me

I’m starting to fashion an idea in my head
Where I would impress you,
Where every single word I said
Would come out insightful or brave, or smooth, or charming
And you’d want to call me..

And I
Would be there every time
You need me;
I’d be there every time..

But for now,
I’ll look
So longingly
Waiting

For you to want me
For you to need me
For you to notice me…

the best of me.

Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
and so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older, but we’re still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we won’t give up

Here we lay again
On two separate beds, riding phone lines
To meet a familiar voice and pictures drawn from memory
We reflect on miscommunications and misunderstandings
And missing each other too,
much too attached to let go.
Turn our music down and we whisper,
“Say what you’re thinking right now.”

Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
and so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older, but we’re still young…
We never grew out of this feeling
that we won’t give up

Jumping to conclusions
Made me fall away from you.
I’m so glad that the truth,
has brought back together me and you
We’re sitting on the ground (sitting on the ground)
And we whisper, (and we whisper)
“Say what you’re thinking out loud.”

Tell me what you thought about
when you were gone
and so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older, but we’re still young…
We never grew out of this feeling
that we won’t give up

Turn our music down and we whisper,
We’re sitting on the ground and we whisper,
We turn our music down,
we’re sitting on the ground
The next time I’m in town,
we will kiss, girl….
We will kiss, girl!

Tell me what you thought about
when you were gone
and so alone…
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older, but we’re still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we won’t,
Feeling that we can’t
We’re not ready to give up

We got older but we’re still young
We never grew out of this feeling
that we won’t give up…

never leave lonely alone.

Like and old man sitting alone at a lunch counter
Never leave lonely alone
Like a small town girl a big city devours
Never leave lonely alone
Some of us laugh even in our darkest hour
Never leave lonely alone

Unspoken rules of solitude
Warmth without a trace
A lifetime of dreams roll down your face.
All that we can’t say is all we need to hear.
When you close your eyes does the world disappear?

There’s something in everyone only they know
Never leave lonely alone
It moves in the hidden ways of joy and sorrow
Never leave lonely alone

Never leave lonely alone
Never leave lonely alone
Never leave lonely alone

big girls don’t cry.

The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You’re probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
To be with myself and center
Clarity, peace, serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal, myself and I
We’ve got some straightenin’ out to do
And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life
It’s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry

The path that I’m walking, I must go alone
I must take the baby steps till I’m full grown, full grown.
Fairytales don’t always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal, myself and I
We’ve got some straightenin’ out to do
And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life
It’s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry

Like the little school mate in the school yard
We’ll play jacks and uno cards
I’ll be your best friend and you’ll be my valentine
Yes you can hold my hand if you want to
‘Cause I want to hold yours too
Well be playmates and lovers and share our secret words

But it’s time for me to go home
It’s getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself and center
Clarity, peace, serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal, myself and I
We’ve got some straightenin’ out to do
And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life
It´s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry
